2021 FFM Certification is now available!

You must be Federally Facilitated Marketplace (FFM) certified in order to receive any commissions (first year and renewal) on Marketplace (HealthCare.gov) business.

If you have never certified for the Marketplace, we recommend you consider taking that step this year as you may be missing a huge opportunity. We anticipate an increase in 2021 marketplace enrollments as more individuals will seek assistance from the government for their healthcare due to reductions of income and loss of employment due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

2021 MAPD/PDP AHIP/BCBSIL Certification Training Is Available!

America’s Health Insurance Plans’ (AHIP) Medicare and HCSC (BCBSIL Product Specific) certification can be accessed through the HCSC education portal.

Completion of both the 2021 AHIP training (Part 1) and the 2021 BCBSIL Product curriculum (Part 2) is needed to be deemed eligible to sell BCBSIL Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug plans with January 1, 2021 effective dates. Please review the key dates below in regards to training and the 2021 Annual Election Period (AEP):

  • June 22nd, 2020 - Part 1 AHIP training
  • July 8th, 2020 - HCSC Product curriculum
  • October 1st, 2020 - 2021 AEP Marketing begins
  • October 15th, 2020 - 2021 AEP Sales Begin
  • December 7th, 2020 - 2021 AEP Sales Closes
  • December 24th, 2020 - Renewal Certification Deadline for Subproducers
  • December 31st, 2020 - Renewal Certification Deadline for all Individual Producers & Agencies

Life Insurance Underwriting Update:

Currently, most carriers still have some temporary restrictions in place.  However, we are starting to notice these restrictions loosen; and carriers are offering coverage to more individuals than earlier this year.  Guidelines are still subject to change but if you have someone who has been declined or postponed, now may be an excellent time to revisit these cases (i.e. clients who would be higher rated or older individuals who tend to have more minor concerns).

Secondly, carriers have expanded their capabilities to underwrite cases without traditional exams typically using electronic applications.  As a broker of Resource Brokerage, you are able to access a tool called “iGO” which integrates with most of our Life carriers and products. This tool is the fastest way to get an application in front of an underwriter.  In addition, it not only allows you to take applications remotely using "DocuSign"-like functionality, but it GREATLY reduces the time spent taking applications by reducing data entry to one time per client.
